    Louis-Eugène Pannier

     Founder of the Maison Pannier.

Les Champagnes Pannier : A Story of Excellence and Passion

Founded in 1899 by Louis-Eugène Pannier, Maison Pannier began writing its first chapters in the prestigious Champagne terroir. A visionary and passionate man, Louis-Eugène laid the foundations of a house dedicated to excellence. His son, Gaston, then took over, upholding the family heritage with rigor and devotion. Upon his passing, his heirs continued the tradition, preserving the values that define Maison Pannier.

In 1971, a new chapter unfolded when experienced winegrowers, already deeply connected to Pannier, took over the Maison. Their meticulous work in the vineyards and the cellar, driven by a profound respect for the terroir and grape varieties, led to the creation of exceptional champagnes. These cuvées, a reflection of over a century of expertise, honor both the richness of Champagne’s soils and the art of winemaking.

Over the decades, Pannier's reputation has flourished, fueled by a relentless pursuit of perfection. A significant milestone was reached when the Maison relocated to Château-Thierry, nestled in the enchanting slopes of the Marne Valley. This region, the birthplace of the famed fabulist Jean de La Fontaine, has long inspired artists, painters, writers, and poets—providing an idyllic setting for crafting Pannier champagnes.

Here, in ancient limestone quarries dating back to the 12th century, the Maison established its cellars. These majestic underground caves, steeped in history and mystery, house one of Pannier’s most iconic symbols: an archer, skillfully engraved into the stone by a medieval stonemason. Representing balance, precision, and mastery, this archer has become the emblem of the Maison, perfectly embodying its philosophy: "Striving for Perfection."

Today, Pannier champagnes continue to captivate enthusiasts worldwide with their elegance, complexity, and authenticity. Each cuvée tells a story—one of a unique terroir, ancestral craftsmanship, and an unwavering passion for the art of champagne.

Heir to centuries-old know-how, Champagne Pannier combines the authenticity of its medieval cellars with the excellence of an ultramodern vat room to produce exceptional champagnes. This alliance between tradition and innovation allows the house to offer refined, balanced and expressive vintages, worthy of the finest tables.

Pannier champagnes are produced from precise blends of the three emblematic grape varieties of Champagne – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier –, carefully selected from the best Champagne terroirs, classified on average at 92% on the cru scale. Thanks to prolonged aging in the cellar, varying from 3 to 9 years depending on the vintage, each champagne develops a unique aromatic complexity, revealing finesse, elegance and depth.

Committed to selective distribution, Pannier favors traditional circuits, targeting enlightened amateurs and demanding professionals in France. Its influence extends well beyond its borders, with a strong presence in some twenty countries, where its champagnes seduce the most refined palates.

Faithful to its demand for quality and its passion for excellence, Champagne Pannier perpetuates its art with an intact ambition: to sublimate each moment of tasting into an unforgettable experience.

    THE SINGULARITY OF PANNIER

Located in the heart of the Marne Valley, Maison Pannier benefits from high-quality supplies sourced from the finest vineyards in Champagne, spanning the Côte des Blancs, the Montagne de Reims, and the Marne Valley. These terroirs, renowned for their Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and, of course, Pinot Meunier, allow Pannier to craft exceptional champagnes. The House has developed unparalleled expertise in working with Pinot Meunier, a grape variety that lends its champagnes a luscious, gourmand character and incomparable fruitiness.

    THE SECRET OF THE BLEND

The art of blending is the true secret behind creating a great champagne. For over 25 years, Maison Pannier has entrusted this delicate and decisive task to its talented Cellar Master, Philippe Dupuis. Under his guidance, the House has developed an elegant and harmonious range, defined by a bold style dominated by black grapes (Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier).

    THE CHOICE OF EXCELLENCE

Driven by a commitment to precision and uniqueness, Maison Pannier has chosen to limit its production, focusing solely on excellence. This bold decision has paid off, establishing the House as a distinctive name among the greats of Champagne. With a presence across five continents, the brand enjoys strong national and international recognition. Pannier affirms its pursuit of exceptional quality by offering its products exclusively through traditional distribution channels, including wine merchants, restaurateurs, gourmet stores, and direct sales.

Regularly acclaimed by international juries, Pannier champagnes are positioned as rare and highly sought-after products. They have become a reliable choice in the world of gastronomy and international hospitality.

Embodying its expertise, the House has adopted the motto of archery: *"Striving for perfection."*

    A LEGACY OF EXCEPTIONAL CUVEES

It is within this inspiring setting, fostering creativity, that the remarkable cuvées of Maison Pannier are born. These champagnes are the result of the skill and dedication of the House's oenologists, crafted for the greatest pleasure of those who appreciate high-quality champagne.

    THE MEDIEVAL CELLARS

Maison Pannier is home to magnificent medieval cellars, carved as early as the 12th century and extending over two kilometers. In the cool, dimly lit labyrinth of these underground galleries, Pannier's champagnes slowly reach their full maturity.
